Session Information

Sex Therapy
Talking about sex can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing making it difficult to discuss sexual problems with friends and family. However, it is not unusual for people to experience sexual difficulties at some point during their lives.
For example, men may have problems with penetration due to erection problems ‘not being able to get it up’ or with premature ejaculation ‘coming too quickly’ or retrograde ejaculation ‘not coming at all’.
Women may experience sexual issues such as dyspareunia ‘painful sex’ or vaginismus when vaginal penetrative sex is not possible.
Both men and women can experience a lack of sex drive,’ low libido’ or have issues around intimacy, sexual compulsivity or porn addiction.
All of these issues can be due to a physical or a psychological cause, even when the issue is purely physical it can then become a psychological problem in the bedroom.
How Can Sex Therapy Help?
Talking to a Sex Therapist or Psychosexual Therapist can help couples and individuals come to an understanding of their issue. A therapeutic plan can then be created and implemented moving the client/s towards a more successful sex life, therefore improving their relationships.
Expectations
As well as working with the therapist the client will have ‘exercises’ to do at home with their partner or by themselves. This will then be discussed in the following session to see how successful or unsuccessful they had been. Most people notice very quick changes when they are receiving the support and help they need.
