Shannon Spencer

Humanistic Integrative Counsellor / Clinical Supervisor

About Me

Shannon Spencer is a qualified and insured therapist at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

Are your thoughts and feeling starting to weigh heavily on you emotionally, to the point that your aware that you don’t feel quite like yourself? Are some day-to-day tasks now becoming more of a struggle then normal?

Having the right person to talk to and voice your concerns, can be extremely helpful. Sometimes for one reason or another, it might be hard to find the right person. Talking to friends or loved ones might feel awkward, or it might feel like there isn’t anyone around that you can talk to or confide in.

I can offer a safe, supportive, confidential, and relaxing space to allow you to work through your thoughts and feelings and to explore your choices at your own pace. Supporting you to gain clarity regarding your current situation, therefore developing your ability to see it from a different perspective and the options that may be available to you.

My approach is humanistic integrative counselling, this means that I like to use a variety of therapeutic models to support you. This enables me to deliver an individual, tailored approach to suit you. By calling on both talking therapy and creative-base skills may help you to explore your experiences in a less challenging way. I find that creative-based therapy skills support you to reach some of those emotions tied to memories or experiences that you may have found hard to put into words more easily. There is no need to be artistic to benefit from this way of working if indeed you choose to work this way.

I can offer both short- and long-term face to face, or video calls counselling sessions, with the support, understanding and empathy you need to work towards your own personal goals and any other aspirations you are struggling to achieve.

I am experienced working cross culturally, with children, young people and adults, providing support with issues such as:

  • Low self-esteem,
  • Anxiety,
  • Loss,
  • Grief,
  • Bereavement,
  • Depression,
  • Relationship issues,
  • Identity issues,
  • Abuse,
  • Addiction.

I understand that it takes courage to make those first important steps. If you would like to take those next steps with me, please call or email me to range a free 20-minute consultation.
