About Us

A community rooted in connection, care, and growth.

At Cherry Tree Therapy Centre, we believe in the power of human connection between clients and therapists, within communities, and across the wider mental health landscape. What began as one therapist’s vision has grown into a vibrant, multi-location centre supporting emotional and psychological wellbeing at every stage of life.

Our Story

2010: The Seed Was Planted

After a career in social care, Caroline Ley qualified as a psychotherapist in 2010. Early on, she recognised the deep need for community, not just for clients, but also for therapists. This insight would become the foundation for everything to come.

2012: A Room and a Vision

In 2012, Caroline set up a private consulting room in Loughton, Essex, and began running mental health and wellbeing groups for both clients and professionals. Inspired to reach more people, she began building a network of trusted professionals from both mental and physical health backgrounds.

2014: Cherry Tree Therapy Centre Is Born

Caroline discovered an empty shop in Cherry Tree Rise, Buckhurst Hill, and transformed it into three warm, welcoming consulting rooms. She invited experienced colleagues to join her, and Cherry Tree Therapy Centre was born. Demand quickly grew, confirming the need for something more.

2019: Expansion and New Opportunities

In 2019, Caroline took a leap of faith and expanded just a few doors up the road. She developed a new space with five comfortable therapy rooms, a tranquil garden, and a large garden room, creating a calming, community-focused environment.

Now, Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill offers:

  • 8 beautifully designed therapy rooms
  • A large group room
  • A private garden space for groups and professionals

Community at the Heart

The large garden room allowed Cherry Tree to launch a growing programme of support groups and workshops, including:

Many of the groups are free, making support more accessible.

Recognising the ongoing demand for affordable therapy, Caroline also established a low-cost counselling service, offering placement opportunities for counselling students from local universities and accessible therapy for the wider community.

Local Partnerships

We have been proud to collaborate with local schools, organisations, and charities, including:

  • Redbridge Carers Service
  • Epping Forest District Council
  • Local primary schools and staff teams
  • BBC Radio Essex
  • Suicide Prevention Conferences
  • The Single Homeless Project
  • Faithless Hijabi

Through talks, workshops, and long-term programmes, we continue to champion community-based mental health support.

A New Chapter: Henley-on-Thames

2022: Expanding into Oxfordshire

In spring 2022, Cherry Tree Therapy Centre opened a second centre in the beautiful riverside town of Henley-on-Thames. Housed in a charming listed building, this location offers:

  • 7 peaceful, well-appointed therapy rooms
  • A central office space
  • A growing community of dedicated therapists

2025: Expanding Space in Henley and 3 new rooms for Buckhurst Hill

Coming in August 2025, we’re excited to open a dedicated group and training rooms in Henley. These flexible spaces will host workshops, support groups, intensive weekends and therapy retreats, a natural extension of the community spirit Cherry Tree is known for.

We are also excited to announce that three new therapy rooms will be opening in Westbury Lane, Buckhurst Hill, this autumn.

Our Philosophy

We are more than a therapy centre. We are a place of safety, growth, collaboration, and compassion. Whether you come to us as a client, a therapist, or a community partner, you’ll find a warm welcome and a commitment to high-quality, ethical care.

Cherry Tree Therapy Centre was never just about therapy rooms. It was about creating a space where people feel seen, supported, and connected. That sense of community is at the heart of everything we do
