Cherry Tree Therapists
About Us

Before I share how the Cherry Tree came into existence, let me tell you about us.  From the beginning, Cherry Tree Therapy Centre has had the most amazing team of therapists (affectionately known as ‘The Cherries’). In 2014 we started with a team of around 5 professionals and we have grown steadily. Today we have 50 highly qualified therapists who use our beautifully decorated consulting rooms. We also have a team of 18 low-cost therapists, who work both online and face to face.

Our therapists specialise in many areas including, addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, families, couples, children, and young people. They also cover many modalities including person-centred, integrative, systemic, CBT, solution focussed, psychosexual, art and play therapy. We also have a team of alternative therapists offering physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, reiki, reflexology, hypnotherapy, and coaching.

Social Gatherings are the only time we manage to get a photo of us together… even Doodle the therapy dog joins in!

The Journey
2010…

After a career in social care Caroline Ley qualified as a Psychotherapist in 2010. She soon realised the importance of community, not only for clients but also for mental health professionals.

2012…

In 2012 she set up a consulting room in Loughton, Essex and started several mental health and wellbeing groups for both professionals and clients. She then began to plan a way to help more people in the community by bringing together a specialist team of mental and physical health professionals.

2014…

In 2014 she found an empty shop in Buckhurst Hill and transformed it into 3 beautiful consulting rooms. She asked trusted colleagues from several disciplines to join her on her journey thus creating Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Cherry Tree Rise, Buckhurst Hill. The practice thrived and the demand for their services grew.

2019…

In 2018 Caroline took the decision to expand the business. After seeing various properties in the area a large open-plan premises became available 3 doors up from her existing Centre. It was perfect! So Caroline set about transforming it into 5 comfortable consulting rooms, with a relaxing garden and a separate large training room.

The two Centres now have 8 beautifully decorated consulting rooms, the group/training room and a tranquil garden for professionals and group participants to use.

The training Centre

This space was crucial to the development of training groups, workshops and support groups.  In 2019, before works were even complete in the main building, the first Anxiety Support Group was launched, attracting over 150 enquiries and 30 participants from the local community. Since then, the team have set up a Bereavement Support Group, A Sex and Porn Addiction Recovery Group, A Partner’s Support Group and a Menopause Well-Being Group.  All groups are either free or ask for a small donation or fee.

Recognising the importance of affordable mental health & well-being, Caroline set up a low-cost counselling service.  The service offered an opportunity to counselling students from local universities and colleges to train within a supportive organisation and gave clients the opportunity to access good quality mental health services for a reduced price.

Cherry Tree Therapy Centre continues to build relationships within the local community and works with several local organisations. The team run a programme supporting the mental health needs of the staff in several local primary schools. They also run workshops for local schools and the Redbridge Carers Service. The team have given talks at conferences for Epping Forest District Council and spoken at Suicide Prevention Conferences. They have also spoken about mental health on several radio shows including BBC Radio Essex and continue to support several charity organisations, including the Single Homeless Project and Faithless Hijabi.

2022…

2022 looks to be another exciting year for Cherry Tree Therapy Centre.  Their work is expanding into Oxfordshire  in the spring of 2022, they will be opening their new centre in Henley-on Thames. The new centre will increase its capacity to help clients and will expand its training services. The new centre is within a beautiful listed building and will have 10 comfortable and inviting rooms, all within the heart of Henley and is located a stone’s throw away from the wonderful river Thames.
