About Me

Nina Mitchell is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill. She is also a qualified Transformational Coaching and Mindfulness Practitioner and offers training and workshops in Buckhurst Hill and Henley-on-Thames. She also offers online counselling and coaching sessions to clients in Henley and surrounding areas. Nina is also a qualified Clinical Supervisor, working alongside some of our Students on their placement.

“I like to think of therapy as building a toolkit for life, empowering my clients with a renewed outlook, increased self-awareness, and effective coping strategies for life’s encounters outside of the therapy room”.

Working within private practice, the NHS, mental health settings, and the business world, Nina is able to draw on many approaches when supporting people to find ways to move forward from their difficulties.

Nina’s approach to therapy is that getting support for mental health is as important as getting support for physical health; if our aches and pains are making life difficult then we contact the GP, but if our mental health is causing us pain then we tend to suffer in silence. Mental health is hugely important for living as productively as we can and therapy can be a very powerful way to start the process of change and living a healthier life.

Therapy is for everyone; it’s often felt that seeking help is a sign of weakness or only for the severely distressed, but many people lead busy, chaotic lives and just having the space to process this can be hugely helpful. Feeling stuck and not knowing how to move forward is often the reason people seek support too. When do we ever get the time and space just to talk through our challenges and be really heard by another? I truly believe that people start to heal the moment they feel heard.

As an integrative therapist, Nina Mitchell integrates different styles of therapy. She believes that as we are all different, the therapy we receive should reflect this. Nina’s training in various styles of therapy allows her to adapt to each and every individual and their challenges or difficulties.

Nina Mitchell is also able to integrate some of her work with transformational coaching – a powerful way of exploring personal beliefs and values and how they shape our experience of life and our behaviours.

She is also a Mindfulness practitioner, regularly running the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program to help reduce stress and anxiety. This experience combines to create a collaborative and dynamic space in which to explore thoughts, and challenges and shape outcomes and goals for those looking for positive, productive change.
