Rebecca Martindale
Counsellor & Therapeutic Practitioner
Working with Adults, Children & Young People
I’m an integrative counsellor offering a calm, compassionate space where you can feel safe to talk, explore, and be yourself.
No two people are the same, and therapy shouldn’t be either. Whether you or your child is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in confidence, or needs someone to talk to, I’m here to support you. Whatever you are experiencing, you don’t have to face things alone.
My counselling style is warm, down-to-earth, and always tailored to you. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to support your unique needs and experiences.
Child work
If your child or teen is experiencing anxiety, struggling with friendships, finding it hard to cope socially, or showing signs of low self-esteem, I offer a safe, supportive counselling space where they can explore and grow.
As a registered member of the BACP, I offer ethical, child-centred, and creative therapeutic support, always tailored to each young person’s needs. I also work closely with parents and carers, offering guidance, reassurance, and practical understanding along the way.
With a background in psychology, trauma-informed training, and specialist experience in supporting children with additional needs, I’ve worked closely with young people with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Selective Mutism and other learning challenges, as well as those experiencing emerging mental-health challenges. My work in schools and with Place2Be has given me a deep understanding of the emotional, social, and academic pressures young people face, both in and beyond the classroom. This experience has profoundly shaped my approach to therapy: one that is inclusive, empowering, and rooted in celebrating your child’s unique strengths.
Whether you’re seeking support now or just exploring options, I’m here to help your child feel understood, valued, and confident and to support you in feeling more at ease, too.
Trauma Work
With a BSc in Psychology, professional counselling training, and specialist development in Psychological Trauma Therapy, I bring a deeply informed, sensitive approach to my work. I support both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals, integrating trauma-focused techniques that help you to develop safety and emotional regulation, always pacing the work in line with your comfort and readiness.
