Natalia Pietruch counselling psychologist working with couples

Natalia Pietruch

Natalia is a trainee Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist currently undertaking a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling. She also holds an MSc in Psychology and is a student member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Natalia’s main area of interest is relationship difficulties and the ways in which our relationships with others can affect our sense of self, emotional wellbeing and choices in life. She is particularly interested in helping both individuals and couples explore patterns that may emerge in their relationships, difficulties with communication and intimacy, attachment, boundaries, self-esteem, sexuality, and the challenges of feeling understood, valued, or connected to others. She has completed Level 1 training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), which informs her work with couples and relationship difficulties.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative, primarily informed by existential therapy with psychodynamic perspectives. She also draws on Schema Therapy and Emotionally Focused approaches, adapting these perspectives to the individual needs of each client. She is particularly interested in questions of identity, authenticity, spirituality and meaning, as well as experiences of feeling torn between different ways of living, values or emptiness.

Before training as a Counselling Psychologist, Natalia worked as a fashion designer for over 10 years. This experience has given her particular insight into the creative process and the pressures that can accompany creative work. She is interested in supporting clients experiencing creative blocks, difficulties with self-expression, confidence in their creative abilities, or questions around their identity and direction within creative careers.

Natalia believes that therapy can help broaden our perspectives, allowing us to see our lives and experiences with greater clarity and openness. She aims to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the choices available to them, and in finding the courage to live a life that feels authentic and meaningful to them.
