Mariko Gormley

Integrative Trainee Therapist

(She/Her)

Mariko Gormley is an integrative trainee therapist in her second year of studying Integrative Counselling and Coaching at the University of East London. Her approach brings together different therapeutic models, allowing her to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs and personal goals.

Warm, reflective, and down-to-earth, Mariko creates a gentle space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Those she has worked with often describe her as grounded, thoughtful, and easy to talk to, qualities that help clients open up at their own pace.

Mariko works with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and identity or life direction concerns. She welcomes adults of all ages and is particularly passionate about supporting people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about their next steps.

Alongside her training, Mariko works as a Referrals Coordinator in forensic mental health. She has spent the last 10 years working across various mental health settings, including hospital wards, a CBT programme in prison, community therapeutic projects, and mental health services in the community. This depth of experience gives her a strong understanding of the complexities people face and the courage it takes to reach out for support.

Mariko chose to train as a therapist so she could return to what she values most: meaningful, human connection. Her background in assessing referrals, supporting teams, and working directly with clients has shaped her into a thoughtful and compassionate practitioner who is committed to walking alongside people on their healing journey.

Mariko offers online sessions on weekday evenings, and face-to-face sessions on:

  • Wednesday mornings/afternoons until September
  • Thursday mornings/afternoons from September onward
