Trainee Integrative Counsellor
Lucy is a trainee integrative counsellor currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of East London. Alongside her training, she works as an artist and university lecturer, supporting undergraduate students as they explore creativity, identity and self-expression.
Lucy believes that feeling genuinely heard and understood can be transformative. She offers a warm, thoughtful and compassionate therapeutic space where clients can explore their experiences at a pace that feels right for them. Her approach is gentle and collaborative, creating a safe environment where clients can reflect openly while also being respectfully challenged when it feels appropriate to support growth and deeper understanding.
Lucy has a particular interest in working with depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, identity, life direction and the unique experiences of neurodivergent people. She also has an understanding of the challenges that can accompany singleness and childlessness, recognising that these life experiences can bring complex emotions that are not always acknowledged by others.
Before training as a therapist, Lucy developed extensive experience supporting others through teaching and volunteering. She volunteered with The Listening Place, providing non-judgemental emotional support to people experiencing suicidal feelings, an experience that strengthened her appreciation of the importance of trust, empathy and emotional safety within the therapeutic relationship. She also spent five years as a workplace union representative, supporting colleagues through conflict and redundancy.
Lucy brings both professional experience and personal understanding to her work with neurodivergent clients. Having lived experience of dyslexia, ADHD and dyspraxia, she understands how feelings of difference, shame and belonging can shape people’s lives. Her aim is to provide a therapeutic relationship where clients feel accepted, understood and supported as they develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion.
Lucy offers face-to-face counselling sessions at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre and is available on Mondays during the day and Tuesday mornings.
