Kirsty Murray
Low-Cost Counsellor | Integrative Therapist (Trainee)
she/her
Kirsty Murray is a warm, calm, and thoughtful trainee counsellor currently completing her MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy at London Metropolitan University. Now entering her final year of training, Kirsty is working integratively, with a grounding in person-centred values and a strong commitment to building a space where clients feel safe, accepted, and genuinely heard.
Her approach is collaborative and flexible, while she primarily works from a person-centred perspective, she also draws on techniques from CBT and psychodynamic theory when appropriate, always with the client’s unique needs at the heart of the work.
Clients often say they appreciate Kirsty’s grounded, steady presence and her ability to help them feel truly understood without pressure or judgement. One client recently shared:
“I don’t have many moments like this in my life where I feel so understood and connected.”
Kirsty supports adults facing a range of issues, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Stress and burnout
- Relationship and identity challenges
- Bereavement and loss
- Low self-esteem and lack of direction
- LGBTQ+ experiences and identity exploration
- Trauma and difficult past experiences
She is particularly passionate about creating affirming spaces for clients within the LGBTQ+ community, drawing from both personal experience and professional insight. Kirsty understands how valuable it can be to speak with someone who genuinely appreciates the complexity and uniqueness of these journeys.
Before training as a therapist, Kirsty completed a law degree and spent over a decade working in the legal sector, including senior management roles in the Legal Tech industry. She also brings valuable experience from volunteering with Citizens Advice and Spark Loughton (a local youth mentoring organisation), where she supported individuals through uncertainty, anxiety, and change.
Her decision to become a therapist was deeply personal, shaped by her own life-changing experience of therapy. This sparked a lasting passion for emotional support, personal growth, and the healing potential of honest, empathic relationships.
Kirsty offers low-cost counselling on weekday daytime and evening slots (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday mornings, and Fridays), and sees clients both online and in person.
