John Jackson
Student Counsellor
(he/him)
John Jackson is a Student Counsellor offering low-cost therapy at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill. He provides a warm, kind, and non-judgemental space for adults to explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. His approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that developing greater self-understanding is key to navigating both life’s challenges and joys.
John works integratively, drawing on psychodynamic and person-centred methods. He is neurodiversity-aware and LGBTQ+ affirmative, and his style is always tailored to the individual, guided by what each client needs and what feels most helpful for them. He has experience supporting clients with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, identity, life direction, relationship difficulties, and trauma.
He is currently completing his TLC4 Diploma (BACP-approvedz) at North West London Counselling and Training (NWLCT) and has recently finished the second year of the course. He is now completing the required client hours as part of his qualification.
Before training as a therapist, John spent almost a decade working in public policy, with a focus on consumer outcomes. He also contributed to early career development and workplace mental health initiatives. His work in these areas, alongside his own positive experience of therapy, led him to retrain as a counsellor.
John offers open-ended counselling sessions for adults, available both in-person and online. He has weekly daytime availability, with some evening slots also offered. If you’d like more information about working with John or booking a low-cost session, please get in touch with the Cherry Tree Therapy Centre team.
