Joan knows that there are challenges that cause anxiety, overwhelming feelings and depression.‘You may have experienced childhood trauma or may be being misunderstood in relationships. Seeking compassionate therapy is the opportunity to begin a life-changing journey where you, not others, shape your future and tell and live the story of who you really are.
As a compassionate counsellor, I provide a listening ear in a safe space – this space is yours to ‘see and know the real you’, both expressing and validating your feelings. I am passionate about facilitating needed change. I will support the self-exploration of your inner strengths, deepen your self-understanding, and work towards achieving the healing and wholeness you deserve.
Many of your present challenges, which leave you feeling heavy, are rooted in past relationships and experiences – these may have caused wounding, leaving you with feelings of loss, hopelessness and despair. So it is important for you to explore them and understand their impact on your present life.
Joan knows that finding the right counsellor to trust and talk through these issues can be unnerving and requires bravery. As a counsellor whose past challenges have benefited from confidence-building therapy, Joan understands the importance of a safe space that is warm and non-judgemental. Joan offers a supportive and collaborative relationship to explore your issues, one that is curious but respectful. A genuine relationship is key to your therapy; it is accepting, feels safe and makes you feel heard.
As a trained Integrative counsellor, Joan is able to use different theories (such as the psychodynamic), skills and techniques to uniquely counsel each client.
