Jess McKey
Trainee / Student Psychotherapist
Jess McKey is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Roehampton. Her undergraduate degree is in psychology from the University of Manchester. Jess offers a warm, grounding, and collaborative space for clients, where they can feel safe and supported to be themselves. You can expect sessions with Jess to focus on the person-centred approach, with elements of CBT and the psychodynamic approach introduced over time as her training progresses. Jess is committed to recognising each client as unique, and her approach reflects this. Jess supports clients to understand more about themselves and their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
She can support adults facing a range of issues, including:
- Chronic illness
- Stress and anxiety
- Life changes
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Depression
- Relationship difficulties
- Low self-esteem
- Family and parenting challenges
Jess also has experience in supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse and has lived experience of chronic illness. Prior to training as a psychotherapist, Jess worked for over ten years as a communications specialist across the private and charity sectors. She has worked in high-stress environments and understands the toll this can take on our health and well-being. Her decision to retrain was prompted by her personal, gradually transformative experience of therapy and a continued passion for understanding and connecting with people.
Jess offers low-cost counselling Mondays to Thursdays (daytime) and can offer both in-person and online sessions.
Jess is a student member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a graduate member of the BPS (British Psychological Society).
