Bernadette Rose
Trauma-Informed Reduced-Cost Counsellor
Bernadette Rose is a fully qualified person-centred, reduced-cost counsellor based at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill. She is currently expanding her skills to work in a more integrative and trauma-informed way, studying a Level 5 qualification in Psychological Trauma. Bernadette offers a warm, reflective, and responsive approach, adapting each session to suit her client’s unique needs and goals.
Clients often describe Bernadette as completely non-judgemental and deeply patient. She creates a safe, confidential space where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and validated – often for the first time. By working at the client’s pace, she helps them explore their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels comfortable and supportive.
Bernadette works confidently with both adults and children, supporting a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem, identity and life direction, and the effects of trauma. Her background includes over five years as a volunteer massage therapist with Kidscompany, where she supported teachers and young people. She has also provided holistic support to young parents who had experienced childhood trauma and had no positive parenting role models. In addition, Bernadette has worked in a secondary school environment, offering therapeutic support to neurodiverse students, including those with autism, ADHD, and oppositional defiance disorder.
Before training as a therapist, Bernadette worked in the Civil Service and developed her skills as a massage therapist and reflexologist. These experiences have shaped her compassionate, whole-person approach to counselling. She is passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and offers an empathic, supportive, and non-judgemental space for self-understanding and growth.
