How We Can help

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy that has been practiced in China and eastern countries for thousands of years to restore, promote and maintain good health.

Sterile ultra-fine needles are inserted at specific points along the vast network of channels in the body. This stimulates the body to release neurochemicals such as endorphins, the body’s own painkillers, and various hormones.

The resulting biochemical changes activate the body’s own self-regulating systems enabling its natural healing abilities to bring about a state of physical and emotional well-being.

Treatment Information

What will happen at my appointment?

Your acupuncturist will initially ask questions about you, your history and will build up a comprehensive picture of your presenting problem.

During the treatment, you will be typically lying on a comfortable massage couch, while your acupuncturist inserts fine needles into various points of your body.

Your acupuncturist will continuously check on you throughout the treatment, moving needles throughout to stimulate the healing process. You are completely in control and you can slow down or stop at any point.

Will the needles hurt?

Most people do not feel the needles at all. In fact, if you are suffering from specific pain the needle can make you feel better and you can feel the release of the muscle and immediately relax.

How will I feel after my appointment?

Some people feel completely refreshed and energised whilst others feel relaxed and sleepy. Everybody is different but most people agree that it is generally a positive experience and aids the healing process.

The amount of sessions needed varies for different people, some only need a few sessions, whereas others use Acupuncture over a period of time.

If subsequent sessions are needed, these sessions will be used to reflect, discuss, and then conduct further techniques.
